The novel The Beast and the Bethany centers around a man named Ebenezer Tweezer. He has lived for 511 years thanks to special potions he receives every year from the beast that lives in his house. Over the years, Ebenezer has fed the beast a variety of items, including animals, plants, and even statues. As long as the beast gives him the potion to stay young, he is willing to give the beast anything.
