Remarkably Bright Creatures is the first novel by American author Shelby Van Pelt. It tells the story of three troubled beings: a young man, an old woman, and a giant Pacific octopus. They meet in the setting of an aquarium. The story introduces Tova Sullivan, a 70-year-old woman whose son disappeared many years earlier in an accident at sea. Recently, she also lost her husband. To deal with her sadness, she takes a job as a cleaner at an aquarium. Cameron, a young man who was abandoned by his mother at the age of nine and never knew his father, has gone through many challenges in his life.
