　　Thanks to modern science, we now understand the reasons behind blood moons. However, ancient civilizations had no idea what really caused them. Throughout history, many myths and stories have been created to explain why the Moon suddenly became an unusual color. In the Incan Empire of South America, the Moon was considered to be a goddess named Mama Quilla. The Incas believed that an animal was attacking Mama Quilla during a blood moon. The red color of the Moon was the result of the animal’s violent attack. To scare away the beast, the Incan people made as much noise as possible and even got their dogs to bark along with them.

　　多亏现代科学，我们现在能理解血月背后的原因。然而，古代文明并不知道造成血月的真正原因。在历史上，人们创造许多神话和故事来解释为什么月亮会突然变成奇怪的颜色。在南美洲的印加帝国，月亮被认为是名为玛玛基亚的女神。印加人相信，在血月期间有动物正在攻击玛玛基亚。月亮的红色是这只动物猛烈攻击所造成的结果。为了吓跑这头野兽，印加人会尽可能制造出大量声响，甚至让他们的狗一起吠叫。
