Although modern movie editors can use software to create and edit sounds, they still face challenges when it comes to certain sounds. That is why foley artists remain an important part of the film industry. They come up with many creative ways to use everyday objects to produce the sounds that we hear in films. For example, breaking a celery stick can create a sound that is similar to a bone breaking. One of the most common tasks for foley artists is creating the sound of footsteps. Because these sounds are difficult to capture during filming, foley artists typically have to recreate them for each character in a film.
