　　As the COVID-19 pandemic gradually slows down, the global tourism industry has also begun to recover. Many places, however, are feeling the negative effects of having too many travelers. To help manage overcrowding, some places are imposing a tourist tax, a controversial method employed to fight overtourism. Venice, Amsterdam, and Edinburgh are just three of the many cities that have recently started taxing tourists to counter the problems of overtourism. These taxes are aimed at visitors and can be easily adjusted for peak versus off-peak seasons.
