The first time that a child loses a tooth can be a painful and horrible experience. In Western culture, parents have developed a creative way to turn this rite of passage into an exciting adventure. Typically, when children lose their tooth, they are told to put it under their pillow for the Tooth Fairy. In the morning, they wake up to find that the tooth has been replaced with money. In the past, Scandinavian culture had a similar tradition that had to do with children’s teeth. Objects from children were believed to bring good luck in battle.
