New York City is famously known as “The City That Never Sleeps.” This title is particularly true for its subway system because it operates around the clock. This iconic network of underground trains all started with City Hall Station in Lower Manhattan. The station was designed by two famous architects: George Heins and Christopher LaFarge. They added elegant features like tile ceilings, chandeliers, and glass skylights to their design. When the subway station made its grand opening in 1904, many people praised it as an amazing piece of engineering.
